Diagnostic and Therapeutic Applications of JeetVet Exotic Veterinary Endoscopes

Jan 14,2025
A veterinary endoscope is a medical device used to observe the internal organs and cavities of animals. Exotic veterinary endoscopes are specifically designed for non-traditional pets, such as reptiles, birds, and small mammals.
01 Digestive System Examination

Gastrointestinal issues are relatively common in exotic animals. Taking rabbits as an example, they are prone to intestinal obstructions. Using an endoscope, which can be inserted either orally or via the rectum, veterinarians can examine the esophagus, stomach, and intestines for signs of foreign body obstruction, inflammation, or other abnormalities.

During the examination, the veterinarian can assess the condition of the intestinal mucosa, determining whether there are ulcers, hemorrhages, or parasitic infections. For small reptiles, such as bearded dragons, endoscopy can also be used to check for normal digestion and identify issues like food impaction.

The following cases were all diagnosed and treated using the JeetVet RAE-201 endoscope.
Exotic Veterinary Endoscope-1
Species: Scarlet Macaw
Age: 5 months
Endoscope : JeetVet RAE-201
Diagnostic and Treatment Details:
The macaw ingested a feeding tube that remained in place for 2 hours, extending from the esophagus to the crop and reaching the proventriculus. Under general anesthesia via inhalation, a 3mm bronchoscope was inserted into the proventriculus, where the feeding tube was visualized. The tube was successfully removed using foreign body forceps.

Species: Scarlet Macaw
Endoscope: JeetVet RAE-201
Diagnostic and Treatment Details:
Under general anesthesia via inhalation, a 3.1mm bronchoscope was used to examine the proventriculus and ventriculus.
02 Respiratory System Examination

Exotic Veterinary Endoscope-1
Species: Leopard Tortoise
Age: 7 years
Endoscope: JeetVet RAE-201
Diagnostic and Treatment Details:
The tortoise presented with open-mouth breathing, and radiography (DR-X) indicated pneumonia. Following sedation, a 3mm bronchoscope was inserted through the tracheal opening to explore the lungs and collect samples for bacterial culture and antimicrobial sensitivity testing.
Exotic Veterinary Endoscope-1
Species: Pigeon
Endoscope Used: JeetVet RAE-201
Diagnostic and Treatment Details:
Under anesthesia, a 3.1mm bronchoscope was used to examine the lungs and collect samples for bacterial culture, strain identification, and antimicrobial sensitivity testing.
Exotic Veterinary Endoscope-1
Species: Scarlet Macaw
Age: 10 months
Endoscope Used: JeetVet RAE-201
Diagnostic and Treatment Details:
During hand-feeding, the owner accidentally inserted the feeding tube into the trachea, delivering approximately 8ml of parrot formula into the lungs. After sedation, a 3mm bronchoscope was used to examine the trachea and lungs. Thick liquid parrot formula was observed adhering to the tracheal walls and alveoli.
